This rich, chocolaty Fudge Cake recipe was discovered in a newspaper dated April 25, 1936. The cake is vintage, but the icing is a modern take on a classic fudge cake frosting. The extra little kick from the espresso powder and the Dutch-processed cocoa powder makes for the perfect blend of new and old.

This vintage pie originated in western Canada in the early 20th century. I came across this recipe in a newspaper dated October 25, 1932. It's a delicious, silky custard pie topped with light and fluffy meringue.

I found this recipe in a newspaper dated November 28, 1938. If you like peanut butter treats and light, fluffy cakes, this one will satisfy. The original recipe calls for the cake to be baked in a loaf tin. I opted to make a layer cake with chocolate buttercream and peanut butter drip, topped with mini peanut butter cups.

Coffee Cake recipe from 1961

This recipe first appeared in a newspaper dated July 13, 1961 labelled as “Elsie’s Prize Coffee Cake”. Due to it’s popularity, it was reprinted in 1963 and then again in 1969 as people kept writing into the newspaper asking for the recipe. This coffee cake recipe has a very unique ingredient: salad crème. Salad crème is an English-style dressing similar to mayonnaise but tangier. And the result is a moist coffee cake that will have you asking for another slice!
